Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Betty's Recipes (bettysrecipes.com) collects when you visit the site, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what choices you have. We have tried to keep it short and specific, and to describe only what the site actually does.
This policy applies to this website only. It does not cover information collected offline or through other channels, or the websites we link to.
1. Consent
By using this website, you agree to this Privacy Policy. For visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the United Kingdom, we ask for consent before setting cookies that are not strictly necessary, as described in section 5. You can change your mind at any time.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only the information described below. We do not ask you to create an account to read recipes.
Contact Form
If you write to us through the contact page, we receive your name, your email address and the text of your message. We use this information only to read your message and reply to you.
Recipe Ratings and Comments
If you rate a recipe or leave a comment, we receive your name and the text you submit. Comments may be shown publicly on the recipe page, so please do not include anything you would not want others to read, such as your email address or phone number.
Server Logs
Like most websites, our web server automatically records standard technical information when a page is requested:
- IP address
- Browser type
- Pages requested
We use these logs for security and troubleshooting, for example to detect abusive traffic or find the cause of an error. We do not use them to identify individual visitors.
Visit Statistics
We run first-party visit statistics on our own server. They record the page viewed and the referrer (the page or site you came from). Raw visit records are kept for 7 days; after that only daily totals remain. This helps us see which recipes are being read and which pages need improvement.
4. Third-Party Services and Links
- Cloudflare provides content delivery and security for the site. Your requests pass through its network, so it processes technical data such as your IP address in order to deliver and protect pages. Its own privacy policy applies to that processing.
- Pinterest. We link to our social profile on Pinterest. If you follow that link, Pinterest's own privacy policy applies to what happens on its site.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your contact form messages or comments with third parties for their own marketing.
If advertising from Google is shown on this site, Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can manage personalized ads in Google's Ads Settings and learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
5. Consent for Visitors in the EEA and UK
If you visit from the EEA or the UK, non-essential cookies and similar technologies are used only after you give your consent. Strictly necessary technical cookies, such as those needed for site security, do not require consent. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time through the cookie settings on the site or in your browser, and withdrawing it will not affect anything done before.
Where we process data under data protection law, our legal bases are: your consent (for non-essential cookies), our legitimate interest in running, securing and improving the site (server logs and visit statistics), and taking steps you ask for, such as answering your message.
6. GDPR Data Protection Rights
If the GDPR or the UK GDPR applies to you, you have the following rights:
- The right to access – You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- The right to rectification – You can ask us to correct information you believe is inaccurate or incomplete.
- The right to erasure – You can ask us to delete your personal data, under certain conditions.
- The right to restrict processing – You can ask us to limit how we use your personal data, under certain conditions.
- The right to object to processing – You can object to our processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
- The right to data portability – You can ask us to transfer the data you provided to you or to another organization, under certain conditions.
- The right to withdraw consent – Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us. We will respond within one month.
7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to:
- Know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, and how we use it.
- Request deletion of the personal information we have collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
- Not be treated differently for exercising any of these rights.
To make a request, use our contact page. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on it, and we will respond within the time required by law.
8. Data Retention
- Raw visit records are kept for 7 days, after which only daily totals remain.
- Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting.
- Contact form messages are kept for as long as needed to answer you and handle any follow-up.
- Ratings and comments remain on the recipe page until you ask us to remove them or we remove them ourselves.
We may keep information longer if the law requires it.
9. Children's Privacy
This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the site, please contact us and we will delete it promptly. Parents and guardians are encouraged to supervise their children's online activity.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold, and Cloudflare's security services help protect the site from abusive traffic. No method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when the site or the law changes. The "Last Updated" date at the top shows when it was last revised. Please check back from time to time.
