Ingredients:

  • 10 oz frozen edamame in the pod
  • 2 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp neutral oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, pressed and minced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 stalk scallion, thinly sliced

Instructions:

  1. Place the frozen edamame in a fine mesh strainer and run warm water over them for 30 seconds to remove surface ice, then pat dry with a paper towel.
  2. Heat the neutral oil and toasted sesame oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add edamame pods in a single layer, sear undisturbed for 2-3 minutes, then toss and cook for another 3 minutes.
  3. Reduce heat to medium. Push edamame to the sides of the pan and add minced garlic to the center; sauté for 30-60 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the soy sauce and maple syrup. Toss rapidly for 1 minute until the liquid thickens into a velvety glaze, then remove from heat immediately.
  5. Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with toasted sesame seeds and sliced scallions.
