Ingredients:

  • 1 cup chilled strong brewed coffee or espresso (240ml)
  • 1 cup whole milk (240ml)
  • 1/4 cup chocolate syrup (60ml)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar (25g)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (5ml)
  • 3 cups ice cubes (710ml)
  • 1/2 cup whipped cream (120ml)
  • 1 tbsp chocolate shavings (15g)
  • 1 tbsp chocolate syrup for drizzling (15ml)

Instructions:

  1. Tilt two glasses and swirl chocolate syrup around the inner walls. Note: This creates those beautiful dark streaks.
  2. Place the glasses in the freezer for 2 minutes to chill. Note: Chilled glass prevents the drink from melting from the outside in.
  3. Combine the chilled coffee (240ml), whole milk (240ml), 1/4 cup chocolate syrup (60ml), sugar (25g), and vanilla extract (5ml) in a high speed blender.
  4. Add ice cubes (710ml) on top of the liquid mixture. Note: Putting ice on top ensures the blades hit the liquid first to create a vortex.
  5. Start the blender on a low setting to break up large ice chunks.
  6. Increase to high and blend for 30-45 seconds until the mixture is uniform and velvety.
  7. Pour the blended mocha into the chilled glasses.
  8. Top with whipped cream (120ml).
  9. Add a sprinkle of chocolate shavings (15g) and a final drizzle of chocolate syrup (15ml). Serve immediately.
